'The Dodgy Deal'-Evaluation

Evaluation

Our short film ‘The Dodgy Deal’ is a comedy based in 1920s Mafia style America. For this short film I acted, directed and edited the video alongside my group. The music in this film was a vital component for me personally as I feel it set the mood and works perfectly with the visuals, yet also is still relevant to the era and style we were trying to portray.  In the first shot, the door opens and closes and the music volume changes to go along with it, and it is my favorite shot of our entire project.

If I were to do this project again, I would definitely have had more actors as it would have created a better atmosphere and got the effect we wanted of a crowded, smoky room. Additionally, I would have used more than one camera to film as it meant shooting took longer than necessary and was much more tedious, which then links to how in our film you can see the soft box lamps we used as it was difficult to shoot certain angles without them being in frame.
We moved from the drama studio to a smaller room as we felt it would be more fitting and we used a smoke machine to get the effect people had been sat smoking in there for hours and i think it worked quite well, we just could have used it more.

In conclusion, we did as best as we could with the resources we had and worked hard, however some very simple changes would make the film better.
